Sample Coaching Contract
COACH’S RESPONSIBILITYÂ
As Your Coach I will:
- Help you prioritize and develop a realistic and effective plan to improve your leadership behavior/competency
- Help you strategize whom to pick as Stakeholders
- Set up meetings (phone or in person) for the upcoming month.
- Return your voice- or e-mail within 24 hours (unless it is communicated that I will be unavailable in advance)
- Provide guidance that fits your needs and aligns with the business
- Provide appropriate encouragement, reinforcement, & support
- Push you when you need it (play your behavioral conscience).
- Help you gain resources associated with implementing your action plan
- Act as a positive role model for receiving feedback (how I’m doing as your Coach)
- Maintain proper levels of confidentiality

LEADER’S RESPONSIBILITYÂ
To become a more effective leader I will:
- Pick a single behavior I am committed to improve
- Share my goal with all Stakeholders and ask them to evaluate me on this behavior from this date forward, not the past
- Ask for feedback from all Stakeholders once a month during this contract
- Ask each Stakeholder for FeedForward (suggestions) once a month and write down what is suggested without comment
- Respond to all feedback and suggestions with “thank you”
- Keep my Coach informed regarding feedback and suggestions received from Stakeholders in a timely fashion
- Try new behaviors, even if uncomfortable
- Practice/rehearse with your Coach key interactions associated with implementing your plan
- Be willing to ask for help from all Stakeholders
- Be willing to conduct a Mini-Survey every six months; and, complete an After-Action Assessment of the results
